Do you wake up with headaches? Jaw joint pain? Do you hear clicking when opening and closing your mouth, or even earaches?
These all could be caused by Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD). TMD happens when the jaw jaoints aren’t working as they should due to injury, arthritis, or chronic grinding and muscle tension.
If you think your headaches and pains are due to TMD, call us for a consultation. We can help you reduce or even eliminate these headaches.
Meanwhile you can make some immediate changes to help you:
- Give your jaw a break by eating softer foods like soup, eggs and yogurt. Avoid chewing gum, tough meat and chewy snacks.
- Practice good posture. Poor body positioning can wreak havoc on your jaw joint, especially if you sit slumped or jut your chin out while concentrating.
- If you’re a clencher and catch yourself in the act, press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This will interrupt the habit which strains your jaw.
